This newly-discovered extensive collection of Václav Boštík's drawings, which the artist completed during his stay in Rome in November 1977 and originally displayed on the premises of the experimental Gruppo Altro theatre, is being shown for the first time in the Czech Republic. At this exhibition, we have the opportunity to see the heretofore
unknown position held by Boštík's art from that period, which was very closely associated with the overall status of contemporary art at the international level.
Zdeněk Sklenář, Prague, 5 March 2018

“... in his extensive series of drawings from 1977, Václav Boštík turns to the concept of bottomlessness; through continuously deepening space he reaches a point beyond our vision and finds the boundary that, once surpassed, subsequently turns into the present … he exposes the spectator to a staggering visual experience …”
Karel Srp, Prague, 2 March 2018

The exhibition is going to be accompanied by the publication of the eponymous catalogue, which includes Karel Srp's essay “On Perfection”. The graphic design is by Zdeněk Ziegler. The catalogue has been published in a print run of a hundred copies numbered 1 to 100, and thirty author's copies, numbered I to XXX.
